Style Spotlight: Channing Hargrove
Sometimes I watch Sex and the City and pretend that I am Carrie Bradshaw. I mean, what's not to love about her? She's a 30-something colorful writer and fashionista flourishing in New York City. Yes, it's fiction but what a fabulous life to live! Channing no longer has to daydream though; she is living out her Carrie life in the city that never sleeps.
Tell us your name, where you’re from and what you do.Hi! My name is Channing Hargrove. I'm from Harrisburg, PA, but moved to New York City a little under a year ago. I am a fashion writer for Glam.com. I also handle Twitter, Pinterest and Google+ for the site, so, come say hey!How would you describe your style?Hm. Moody. I like to throw a bunch of things that don't necessarily 'go' together all in the name of dressing how I feel. I think I tend to look a little disheveled, but I like it.
What celebrity inspires your style and why?Kerry Washington, she's such a freakin' lady. She reminds me that you can be elegant and sexy at the same dang time but still leave a little to the imagination. Also, Solange Knowles because she always looks so unexpected and fun.
If you had to give all of your clothes away, what are five things that you would keep?:( That would be horrible, but if I must, I'd chose the purple suede Christian Dior pumps I just scored at T.J. Maxx, DKNY Cozy Wrap, a faux leather skirt--any of them, my TIBI clutch with the New York skyline (perfect for Channing in the City) and my nameplate necklace.What does having style mean to you?Having style is another way to express myself--speaking unconsciously almost.
What advice would you give to someone trying to find their own style?I would say pay more attention to what you gravitate to, and not so much trends, and then wear that. As much of it as possible.Links
