Weekend at a Glance: Girls of Blaze #90
Sometimes, the only way I am able to express myself is through art. I articulate my emotions and thoughts visually and through writing because I feel that these are pure forms of self-expression. To be able to channel that expression and to be willing to explore it is a gift. As a result of that exploration and expression, I feel that I possess a sense of purpose.I do not claim to be an artist in the traditional sense but I have an uncanny connection to art. I'm inspired by others who are gifted artistically. I'm inspired by people who recognize that inspiration is in the everyday insignificant details. They also acknowledge that inspiration requires passion and energy. I'm drawn to individuals that exhibit that intrinsic creative genius. Perhaps that is why I am inspired, and straight cuckoo, for Solange Knowles.
As a singer, songwriter, creative and influence to many, Solange Knowles continues to effortlessly pave her own path. Recently, she's added Artistic Director for PUMA to her growing list of titles. With the assistance of four talented designers she calls friends, they created the 'Girls of Blaze Disc Collection'. This PUMA exclusive was inspired by the sights and sounds of Brazil.Remember that one time I won a free pair of PUMA's? Well, behold. Although to my disappointment, she could not make the event, she signed each shoe box that was given away. Design by Hisham A. Bharoocha for PUMA.
So I decided, why not do something fun with the shoes. I was inspired by the vibrant colors and concept of her shoot to do my own. I had everything planned out. I was gonna have balloons and colorful plastic bracelets and funky jewelry. By the time I got to the location, I forgot to wear any of it. Which turned out to be a good thing. I didn't want anything to steal the shine from the shoe. Instead, I chose to incorporate pops of color on my nails, lips and dress.
Someone commented on one of my pictures telling me that I'm her blogger inspiration. Honestly, that really touched me. I'm honored that someone sees the reason why I blog or post anything. I believe when you're living in your purpose, people will see it. You won't have to explain to anyone who you are or what you do. I am a light. My job is to shine. That's it.Life is all about exploring, evolving, progressing and inspiring. Inspiration is readily attainable; all you have to do is be open to seeing it in everything. Being inspired for me is like taking a Red Bull. It gives me wings, lol.
