When I think of happiness and what it would look like, I imagine Starbursts, the tropical flavor. Or maybe happiness is like payday with a side of a free lunch. It could be seeing the smile on someone's face; it automatically makes you happy. Whit is happiness personified. Whitney Douglas embodies what living a good life looks like.
Tell us your name, where you’re from and what you do.My name is Whitney Douglas; you can call me Whit. I'm originally from Columbia, SC and have resided in Atlanta, GA for the past ten years. Currently I'm a Visual Merchandiser for H&M.How would you describe your style?I'd say my style is feminine, chic, and edgy. I like to go with how I'm feeling in the moment. I let my mood set the tone while also keeping in mind the setting of where I'll be wearing my pieces.
What celebrity inspires your style and why?Style Powerhouse and mentor, June Ambrose, is such a friend in my head girl. She is the epitome of all things fierce, decadent and distinguished, to me. Lastly Tai Beauchamp, Style Ambassador for InStyle. She is successfully bridging the gap between fashion and philanthropy. Love her life.If you had to give all of your clothes away, what are five things that you would keep?All my clothes away? Yikes. That sounds so painful, but if I had to hold on to just five pieces they'd be my leather thigh high boots - probably my most comfortable heel ever; my beautifully printed scarf; my black conductor hat; my favorite tote sized handbag; and lastly, my daily ring and arm candy (jewelry).What does having style mean to you?Honestly, style is truly a behavior. It's how you move, where you dine, where you hang out, and spend your time. Your accessories are punctuation's to your style.
My style philosophy: life is too short to blend in!
What advice would you give to someone trying to find their own style?I would say to that person, to be your authentic you. Dress for your lifestyle. What do you get dressed for mostly? What's the attitude of that setting and what are you most comfortable in? These are all things to consider when deciding on what's best to wear. Your style will exude.
