OFEDA and Macy's for Mother's Day
It's that time of year again. A time to celebrate and appreciate the women who gave us birth, loved us through all of our flaws and tirelessly worked to help us achieve our goals. These women are our strongest supporters and liveliest cheerleaders. They deserve the best of our love.
I've teamed up with my favorite do-gooders, Macy's Heart of Haiti and EVERYWHERE, to support a new organization called OFEDA.OFEDA (Organisation des Femmes Dévouées en Action) is a group of women formed after the catastrophic earthquake that struck Haiti in 2010. Ranging from age 18 to 82, these women have come together, forming businesses to support themselves. They started off with hand-made cards and have grown to selling other products. Pretty impressive, I might add, given the circumstances. But, nothing is too hard for the resilient people of my parent's country.Many of these women are mothers. By supporting the Haitian artisans who create the Heart of Haiti products, we are stimulating the Haitian economy. My lovely pals at EVERYWHERE will directly donate to this cause.
