A case of you

Have you ever been in that space where you just feel weird? Not bad, not necessarily good either. Maybe like you're not exactly sure how to feel. Or maybe you feel everything at once and you're unsure of what to do with all of those emotions so you just sit with them. Let them play out on their own. That's kind of how James Blake's music makes me feel.jamesblake  I've honestly never heard anything that has made me feel a wide range of emotions as those of James Blake. The 24-year-old British, electronic/dubstep music producer and singer-songwriter, studied Popular Music at Goldsmiths University in London. His musical style is greatly influenced by past classical and jazz tunes. His voice reminds me of Aaron Neville and the girl from that song in SATC1 during the New Years Eve scene. Weird, but it works. If I could describe his music, I would use the words: Heavy, yet lightweight - Mystical - Hallucinating - Wavy - Soulful - Tender - Hypnotizing - Moody - Innovative - Clear - Dark - Rich - Magnetic.Side note: it's interesting to see the unbreakable connection some people develop to music after being exposed to it at a very young age by their parents. My absolute FAVORITE song by Blake is his cover of Joni Mitchell's A Case of You. MY GOD. The video is just, as my friend says, drenched in emotion. He effectively uses sound to depict emotion: two things that are intangible. This song brings me to tears every single time.[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJDSueNSMJE]My other favorites are his cover of Feist's Limit To Your Love, The Wilhelm Scream and Retrograde, from his upcoming album. And of course I'm going to see him when he comes to Atlanta in May. Of. Course.miss lucy
