2015 Pantone Color of the Year: Marsala
If you've never heard of the PANTONE, it's not your fault. But if you're a graphic artist or designer and haven't heard of it, shame on you. PANTONE is the leader in color communication, known for its matching system. This year's color, Marsala, couldn't be any more rich and exciting.I first learned of PANTONE through Instagram a year ago. Creatives that I follow kept posting these color swatches and matching them with elements in nature. I came to know of this matching to be what is studied at the Pantone Color Institute.At the Pantone Color Institute, experts study, research and predict color trends. These experts work with brands on their color strategy to effectively market themselves and communicate their story. Every year, a new color is revealed.
I've been meaning to do one of these Pantone Color of the Year inspiration boards and I finally got around to it. An annual color challenges creatives to visually communicate, design and create in a new way. 2015's Color is Marsala and I'm actually kinda obsessed with it. Last Fall, I really got into deep wine colors and Marsala was inspired by the richness of wine.

Marsala's warm mix of deep red and brown is flattering on many skin types, especially people of color. It adds a subdued, yet robust touch to furnishings, apparel and design.
