10 Stellar Internship Tips
It's been almost three months since my summer internship at Caren West PR ended. Since then, my life has literally been a juggling experiment. After I quit my corporate job last December, I didn't know what I was going to do. My fervent prayer was that I would have a profession that challenge me. When I thought God wasn't listening, I realized that He gave me exactly what I asked for and more. Before this position, I adopted a quitter's mentality; now, I'm not only persistent but I'm more resilient. I experienced many challenges. There were many days that I didn't have money to eat, but I never missed a meal. I was driving thirty plus miles into the city at least four times a week, but I always had gas. Those 3.5 months really were a test of my faith and endurance and I can only thank God for getting me through it.I would probably guess anyone taking on an internship is doing it to seize new opportunities. An internship, most times, is the first step towards betterment in your career endeavors. Being an intern benefitted me most in terms of skills. I wouldn't have the clients (yes, clients!) I have now had I not taken the time to learn those skills at CWPR. If you're deciding whether to take on an internship or are currently an intern struggling through it, check out my ten tips below! So all in all, here's how I'll sum up being an intern: be willing to work hard and not give up. That is my advice. If you're passionate and persistent about what you want to do, don't give up. It will get tough and you will doubt yourself. Step away from the cliff. Those moments of insecurity and uncertainty will pass. Life is all a test anyway. You can't win if you don't play.Have you ever been an intern? Was it a pleasant experience for you? Please share!
